Over the past month we have been searching for songs on a site called newgrounds. We found a song called "Insomniacs" which we all liked. So i emailed the artist in which he took ages to reply and there was a problem with me login on the site. So Becky H emailed him and requested for permission to use hes song for our coursework. He eventally emailed back, and he gave us permission to use hes song.

Here is the email becky H sent him:

"Hi, my names Becky. Im not sure if you got the message from my friend, so if not im sending you another 1 :) Im an A-Level media student and this year for my coursework i need to produce a music video. However i can only use uncopyrighted music. So i was looking around and found your song 'Insomniacs'. Me and my group think it is great and perfect for what we need, so we was wondering if you would allow us to use it.The only people that will see our video is our teacher and the examiner.Please reply asap (we need to start filming soon)Thanks alot :)".

Meanwhile the artist replied :

"Terribly sorry for the late reply! I would be really excited to let you use the song :) of course, i would really enjoy seeing the final product as well!".

The artists user name for the site is DamonGuyett. He is 18 and is a student from Waterdown, in Canada.

In class we have been watching the 100 greatest music videos of all time. videos that are included are Madonna "like a prayer" and Queen " i want to break free". Many of the videos are controversial, have a story line and add value to the song. The whole 100 may not be there.

Notes on coursework

On the 11th of september sir showed us servel different music videos that people have made for their coursework. The videos we watched where 6underground, spread love and anyone esle but you. Here are the notes i made of each video:

6underground

- the lip syncing was good and she lip sync every word, but was often out of time with the music
- during the video shes always walking which i thought looked good
- in the middle of the video the camera spins around with give the video a good effect
- there are many different settings, including a subway, london, chinese town the toliets etc
- the girl that starred in the video looked the part, becasue she had the right clothes on, make up and props with her
- theres a transision between two of the shots with was like a graphic match
- editing that is mainly use is flashing

Spread love

- the main character in the video did not fit in with the song at all. This is because the song is an upbeat, rock song. Whereas the boy in it looked like a nerd with hes glasses, spots etc.
- the actual band performance was fantastic
- but the over all video, you can see that all the cast put in and was commited to this project
- the location was a church, which went well because u wouldnt imagine playing rock music in a church
- over all the presentation was good and thats what counts

Anyone esle but you

- the relationship between the couple looks real, and people will believe they are a couple even if they arent. So they are playing their roles good
- within the video theres a good graphic match
- they isnt really that much lip syncing, so they could do more. But they do lip sync the main chorus with shows them epthesizing those words
- mis en scence, everything within that section fits in with the songs, like the clothes, setting. props ect.
- transitions used are mainly fast dissolves which is used throught out

Jesse Mccartney- How do you sleep

Before Jesse Mccartney became a solo artist, he was apart of a boy band called Dream street till 2002. In which the group earned a gold record with their debut cd. Hes first solo song whoch took him 2 years, was called "Beauitiful soul". Since then he has released a number of songs including "How do you sleep". As well as singing he is also known for hes acting and song writting. In which he co write with Ryan Tedder from One Republic, the massive hit " Bleeding love" for Leona Lewis. Which was a massive hit. Meanwhile he stared in many programmes and films including the childrens programme "Hannah Montana" and the film "Keith", which he played the main role. Over all Mccartney has been nominated and for a number of awards, and he has been successful. For example he has gained "Teen choice awards" on a number of seperate occasions.



The type of genre which Mccartney often produce are pop/ urban. Which is popular with a number of people. Jesse target audience is females, espically teenagers, this is because many teenage girls like him and hes looks, that they will listen to hes music. The image he has is of this teenage cute boy, which as stuck with him for a number of years. As the years g on he is coming out of the look and turning into a hansome young man.



My first impression of this video is its good its affected and the lyics go with the video that has been produced. There is also a story line to it. Which i think its about hes split up from hes girlfriend but he cant stop thinkng about her, and that now hes trying to either find her or get away from her by travelling in the car on a motor way out in nowhere.



The setting is on a motor way out in nowhere which fits in with the storyline because hes trying to get her our of hes mind, so he gets in the car, which is the main prop used in the video, and just drives. The clothes he wears are casual, which any one would normally wear. Also hes wearing glasses which hes trying to give the impression that hes cool ,and it make him look like hes hiding hes true feelings.



Within this video many stright cuts are used to get from one place to another. In the middle of the video a lot of stright cuts are used to show Maccartney and then show Ludacris.



The video promotes the song because it helps give the songs some speed and it helps to tell the story, because it shows Jesse keep looking at a picture of this girl. Which without the video you wouldnt relised how much hes expressing hes feelings. Also it has promote the artist because he sold many of hes cds.





This is the cd cover for the album. The cd cover produce is linked to the video because its a picture of him sitting in hes car with hes glasses on which is in the actual video. The coverlp to promote hes image because he look cool and that hes thinking. Which actomacticlly promotes hes song because its about hes feelings.
